Addis Ken (“New Day”) is a unique project full of soul and groove, led by international saxophonist and vocalist Abate Berihun, one of Israel’s most compelling voices. With pianist Roy Mor, he leads an ensemble where ancient Ethiopian traditions meet the rich language of modern jazz.
Their original music blends Ethiopian-Jewish melodies passed down for generations with ancient texts of prayer, memory and spiritual search. After a debut album on the acclaimed US label Origin Records and shows across Europe and Africa, they bring a rich sound that weaves together blues, African groove and sweeping soul-jazz.
